If you’re like me, your passport is not just one of your prized possessions, but it’s always been proof of where you’ve been — with elaborate entry stamps, or visas from foreign countries that can often take up an entire page.

Each country has a different type face, insignia, font and ink color.

In the world of biometric recognition and digital identification, passport stamps are slowly but surely disappearing.

In November, the European Union is eliminating passport stamping altogether.

So enjoy the stamped pages while you can, and admire the individual country border control artwork as long as you can.
