St Lucia

St. Lucia, named the top place to honeymoon in the world by US News, is the perfect honeymoon destination because it has something for everyone at any budget. There are many all-inclusive resorts set on beautiful beachfront properties available which make planning your trip a breeze.

This beautiful eastern Caribbean island is known for its two dramatic mountains called the Pitons, they even named their national beer after these beauties!

If you like diving or snorkeling there are some beautiful reef-diving sites that will blow you away. For a relaxing day on the water, you can go on a catamaran cruise. If you’re lucky you can even see dolphins!

Along the way, stop at the Pitons, have a drink, and go snorkeling. Feel like going to the spa? Have an adventure and try a natural mud bath on an active volcano in Sulphur Springs located in Soufriere, St.Lucia.

TIP: If you want to visit this waterfall without tons of people, go on your own in the afternoon after all of the tour groups have left to get this piece of paradise to yourself.

We loved St. Lucia! It’s truly is one of the best places for a honeymoon with the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and fun.’

St. Lucia Honeymoon Resorts

The Sandals Grande St. Lucian is the perfect resort for a Caribbean honeymoon. Sandals resorts are geared towards couples —they provide adults-only, all-inclusive, luxury experiences. The Sandals Grande St. Lucian is located on its own private peninsula, offering spectacular views of St. Lucia’s crystal clear waters, volcanic mountains & lush green forests.

The Bahamas

Think crystal clear water, white sandy, and empty beaches and colorful houses that are lined up along the gravel roads. The Bahamas are a true paradise. However, given that they consist of 17 islands and cays, you’ll find great differences between all of them.

Honeymooners will love Eleuthera. Not only is it the birthplace of pop legend Lenny Kravitz, but also is it home to some of the most remote beaches in the Bahamas. You can easily rent a car and experience the island by yourself.

Some of the highlights are not only the spot where the calm Caribbean Sea meets the rough Atlantic Ocean but also a hidden path that connects little bays, in which you most clearly will be on your own.

Apart from that, the pink sand beach on the neighboring island is only a short ferry hop away. Get ready for a day in pink, on which you hang out on the beach and munch yourself to some of the best restaurants in the whole Caribbean while exploring the small Harbour Island.

Puerto Rico

As far as honeymoon destination considerations go, Puerto Rico has to be on your list! This island is one of the more affordable honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean and does not require a passport.

There is also plenty to do for those who have a hard time hanging out at a resort (especially since all-inclusive packages are rare). Between the white sandy beaches, scuba diving, surfing, a plethora of rum, and rainforest, the island is a perfect getaway.

Jamaica

Jamaica was made for lovers and is perfect for a Caribbean honeymoon. If you are looking for beautiful white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, and a myriad of romantic activities, Jamaica is the ideal location. Additional perks are the friendly people, beautiful sunsets, great food, and of course drinking many rum punches on the beach!

The tourist regions of Jamaica cater to all tastes. If you want miles of white sand beach, Negril is ideal. If you want to hop off your plane and be on the beach in 30 minutes consider Montego Bay. If you plan to have a destination wedding and honeymoon in the same place and plan to invite a lot of guests consider Ocho Rios.

Jamaica also offers a diverse range of accommodations; from luxury all-inclusive hotels, to overwater bungalows, to chic beachside villas or shacks. An added plus is the variety of activities available. You can go bamboo rafting on the Rio Grande or the Martha Brae with a loved one, have romantic dinners in seaside caves, enjoy romantic picnics on the beach, or enjoy sunset catamaran cruises.

Turks & Caicos

The Turks and Caicos Islands are a string of post-card perfect islands perfect for a honeymoon located just south of the Bahamas in the Caribbean. With pristine white sand and uncrowded beaches, an amazing honeymoon awaits you in Turks and Caicos! Here are my top three reasons why this is the perfect spot for a honeymoon.

Now I know you’ll find beautiful water on many islands in the Caribbean. But the vivid blues in Turks and Caicos were unmatched to any Caribbean destination I’ve ever seen! Plus it’s home to Grace Bay Beach, which is often ranked by travelers as one of the world’s top ten beaches!

Known throughout the world as one of the best places to snorkel and scuba dive, Turks and Caicos is full of adventure. Try kiteboarding, kayaking, or set sail on a catamaran.

Visit the world’s only conch farm or end your day with a sunset cruise. Take a day trip from Grand Turk or Providenciales to another island to explore vacant beaches and beautiful landscapes.

Antigua

Antigua is a fantastic honeymoon destination in the Caribbean. Although a small island, it has a lot to offer to visitors and plenty of things to do for couples on their honeymoon. Thanks to the constant winds, it is a fantastic sailing destination – so much so that each year, between the end of April and the beginning of May, it hosts a sailing competition.

The beaches are just picture-perfect – white, very fine sand; palm trees, and clear waters where you can spend time snorkeling or just relaxing. You can even go to the coral reef for more chances to admire marine life.

Make sure to also go on a road trip around the island for a day (that’s how small it is) for chances to explore the interesting capital and the sugar mills. The best-kept one is Betty’s Hope.

Among the most romantic spots in Antigua on the island are Devil’s Bridge, a beautiful rock arch directly on the ocean; and Shirley Heights, which is the perfect sunset spot.

Nevis

Nevis is an amazing Caribbean destination for a honeymoon – this small island is the perfect spot to explore the local culture whilst soaking up the gorgeous setting.

Unlike many other islands in the Caribbean, Nevis feels as I’d imagine it did 20 years ago – albeit with a few better hotels. It has its own unique vibe and history that are well worth exploring, as well as a distinctive culinary scene (best explored during the annual Mango & Food Festival).

That’s not to say that Nevis doesn’t have its fair share of luxury properties that are absolutely perfect for honeymoons. Few spots are as idyllic as quiet Paradise Beach, where you can stay in a stylish beach villa with incredible views out to sea – complete with an in-house chef and concierge to help you create the perfect stay.

Alternatively, The Montpellier boasts panoramas out over the interior of the island – complete with the cool Nevis Peak that dominates the center. There is a reason it used to be one of Princess Diana’s favorite Caribbean boltholes.

Martinique

The Caribbean island of Martinique is a great place to honeymoon. There are many interesting things to do in Martinique, in French Antilles. Couples looking for a quiet stay in a postal perfect Caribbean setting will be happy with Martinique beaches, with coconut palms, white sand, and turquoise water.

The most famous beach is Grande Anse des Salines near the village of Saint Anne but there are many more, also more secluded beaches surrounded by jungle. Choose a beautiful resort or eco-hotel near the most beautiful beaches and a memorable honeymoon in Martinique will be guaranteed.

In Martinique, you are never far from the sea and the island proposes many water activities as well, from diving to a romantic cruise on a sailboat, usually with stops in some hidden beaches.

Saba

Saba is a fleck of emerald in the sapphire Caribbean Sea. The small island in the Lesser Antilles is a special municipality of the Netherlands and is reachable by boat or plane from St Maarten. Nicknamed the Caribbean’s Unspoiled Queen, Saba boasts the tallest point in the Netherlands, as well as some of the best scuba diving in the Caribbean.

Saba does not fit the classic honeymoon cliche of white sand beaches and turquoise waters. In fact, the small Caribbean island does not have beaches, chain hotels or large-scale tourism. Instead, Saba is an off-the-beaten-path gem, ideal for couples seeking solitude and access to untouched nature.

Saba’s laid-back character and lack of commercialization are part of what makes this lush volcanic island so appealing. White gingerbread houses sit nestled amongst verdant mountain peaks, with seaside views in every direction.

Activities on Saba include climbing to the top of Mount Scenery, hiking the island’s network of trails, and exploring Saba’s underwater world. Furthermore, couples craving the beach can take a speedboat to St Maarten for a day of sun and sand.

Newlyweds keen on an offbeat honeymoon away from the crowds will fall in love with Saba’s lush scenery, its unparalleled views, and its romantic charm.

St. Maarten

St. Maarten is one of the most visited islands in the Caribbean and for good reason. The tiny island boasts some of the most beautiful beaches, delicious foods, and a lively yet laid back atmosphere. The island may only be 37 square miles, but it is divided into two separate territories, each with its one unique vibe.

The Dutch territory of Saint Maarten uses US dollars and the primary languages spoken are English and Dutch. But on the opposite side of the island, the French territory of Saint Martin uses Euros and the French language. But what makes St. Maarten the perfect Caribbean island for honeymooners is that it is not only beautiful, it’s romantic and sexy.

Want to sunbathe nude with your partner? There are numerous clothing-optional beaches on the island, particularly on the French side. And if your idea of romance involves candlelight dinners and culinary delicacies, there are more than 300 restaurants on the island from which to choose.

Many people visit St. Maarten as part of a multi-destination cruise. But if you want to escape the crowds, spend a week there instead. You’ll have the island and its beautiful beaches practically to yourself.

Curaçao

While the southern Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao offers more than its share of culture, history, architecture, and romantic backdrops, ranging from picturesque, cove-like beaches to brightly colored buildings, Curaçao is also a haven for off-the-beaten-path romantic adventures.

For an intimate excursion, newlyweds can venture to the uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao, or hike Mount Christoffel, Curaçao’s highest peak with sweeping views. Romantics will also love wandering the cobblestoned streets of Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lounging at the island’s chic new beach clubs, or enjoying a candlelit dinner at Fort Nassau, an ancient fort from the 1700s featuring panoramic views of the harbor.

Housing the second-largest hot spring in the world, Dominica is effervescent with natural beauty.

From safaris through rich rainforests, moonlit canyon tours, and a literal bubbling beach, Dominica is the prime spot to immerse yourselves in the presence of rare flora and fauna whose glamor you’ll hold in your memories forever.

Grand Cayman

As the largest of the three Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman is flourishing with sites to make any Caribbean honeymoon a trip to remember. Known for its coral reefs, underwater shipwrecks, and crystal caves, you can explore this island by helicopter, horseback, or even by submarine.

Along with a trail that runs North to South through the center of the whole island, there is also an island tour with a special visit to Hell. As your day in paradise winds to an end, go for a sunset sailboat ride then hit Seven Mile Beach for some nightclubs, dancing, and savory seafood.

British Virgin Islands

Comprised of four main islands and about 50 smaller ones, the British Virgin Islands is the perfect honeymoon getaway for relaxation and romance. Named one of the world’s greatest sailing destinations, there are plenty of choices to book a day on a sailboat or a yacht. As most of the smaller islands are only accessible by sailboat, it is more than likely that you could get an entire beach to yourself.

Visit Redhook for some amazing food and drinks, or choose one of their many white-sand beaches to snorkel, swim with dolphins or just sit back and relax.

Bermuda

With its famous pink sand beaches and beautiful sunsets, honeymooners who end up here will live out the classic Caribbean dream. Crystal Cave is a popular attraction where tourists can see underwater caves and all the stalactites that grow around them.

This popular island is home to boutique resorts and luxury hotel properties that make this popular destination the perfect place to relax on the beach and enjoy next-level pampering.

Cuba

My husband and I decided we didn’t want a traditional wedding so we eloped to Cuba. We got married at the Royalton Hicacos in Varadero and spent our honeymoon in Havana. Cuba is an amazing destination for honeymooners who want to pair luxury with adventure and culture.

You can spend a few days just lying on the beach and gorging on delicious food at one of Varadero’s all-inclusive resorts, then head to Havana to get a glimpse into daily Cuban life. There are many romantic things to do in Havana – you can take a few salsa classes, explore the city in a classic car or simply go for romantic strolls along the Malecon.

If you want to explore rural Cuba, take a day trip to Vinales where you can visit a tobacco plantation and learn how cigars are made. Meanwhile, Cuba’s colorful colonial cities like Trinidad and Cienfuegos are perfect for couples who want to immerse themselves in the laid-back ambiance of the island’s Caribbean side.

Dominican Republic

The DR is one of the larger and better-known Caribbean islands. Like most islands, it is known for its beaches, luxury resort hotels, and nightlife. But it is also well known for its golfing. In the capital city of Santo Domingo, tourists can experience the island’s rich history and get a feel for the DR culture.

One of the big islands draws is also the rainforests that you can schedule a tour, zip line, or hike through. If you’re wanting to do multiple activities and see a lot of things on your honeymoon, the popular Dominican Republic is the place for you.

If budget is holding you back from a Caribbean honeymoon, the Dominican Republic might be a good option for you. Compared to some other Caribbean destinations, the Dominican Republic can often provide a more budget-friendly option for a luxurious honeymoon, allowing couples to experience a high-quality experience without breaking the bank.

Grenada

The Caribbean island of Grenada might be under the radar for some mainstream honeymooners, but this fascinating island destination located in the eastern Caribbean south of Barbados is growing in popularity. Grenada is fast drawing the attention of couples interested in immersing themselves in a beach destination with a wealth of cultural and natural attractions with the convenience of all-inclusive resorts.

Grand Anse Beach, widely considered one of the world’s best beaches, makes an ideal setting for a honeymoon stay. This long, walkable stretch of white sand facing calm, turquoise clear waters, is situated near the charming capital city of St. George’s.

It also offers easy access to tours to inland attractions such as Belmont Estate, a 17th-century plantation located in the lush mountainous slopes of St. Patrick, as well as excursions on Grenada’s coast.

One of the top honeymoon experiences is a snorkeling excursion with Savvy Sailing, where couples sail in a classic sloop along Grenada’s coastline to the Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park, the world’s first underwater sculpture museum.

Created by British artist Jason deCaires Taylor, this underwater gallery features a collection of 100 statues beneath the sea in Molinere Beausejour Marine Protected Area and was created to help the coral reef regenerate after being damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. It’s now a vibrant artificial reef teeming with marine life.

For honeymooners looking for an adrenaline-fuelled adventure, another amazing option is to take a Grenada Seafaris Powerboat Adventure, a rousing ride to the underwater sculpture park aboard the Seafaris Explorer, a 250 hp twin-engine rigid inflatable featuring unique saddle seats with handlebars.

Isla Holbox

There are a few key ingredients required for the perfect romantic getaway, whether it be a honeymoon, anniversary celebration, or just a quick weekend trip to reconnect as a couple. First and foremost are space and time, because they give us a break from the hustle and bustle of our normal lives.

The second is peace and quiet because it’s hard to get in the mood when there are screaming children or honking horns outside our window. Last but not least, there’s gorgeous scenery, which usually means being surrounded by nature.

Isla Holbox, a tiny island about two hours north of Cancun on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, offers all of this in spades. Though the once-sleepy fishing village’s business district bustles with activity during the day, the resort area is on a pristine beach with crystal clear Caribbean waters.

Our favorite Isla Holbox Hotels, including Las Nubes de Holbox and Villas Flamingos, are secluded and bordered by the Yum Balam Nature Reserve. You can spend the day doing nothing and be perfectly content or visit nearby cenotes, go birdwatching, or swim with the world’s largest gathering of Whale Sharks. Either way, it’s a wonderful place to unwind with the one you love.

Valladolid

Valladolid is a Spanish-style city on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula that has lots to offer. It’s an amazing place for those looking for a little adventure on their honeymoon getaway. The city itself is beautiful and everything to see is within walking distance.

The Iglesia de San Servicio is a historical church located right in front of Valladolid’s central park. Surrounding the park, are numerous shops and gourmet restaurants, as well as local vendors selling various street foods.

Walking around the park or grabbing a cup of coffee at a cafe, you would never realize the adventure waiting for just three blocks away. Cenote Zaci is one of the many sinkholes or entrances to a subterranean labyrinth of caves full of water.

The Mayans believed the cenotes to have special properties. Nowadays you can escape the heat by going for a magical swim in the crystal clear waters of Cenote Zaci.

Some of the biggest attractions in the area are no doubt the ancient Mayan ruins. And Valladolid is the perfect base for seeing some of the most famous of all. You will have no trouble finding transportation to sites like Chichen Itza, Coba, and Ek Balam.

Cartagena, Colombia

Located on the northern coast of South America you will be blown away by the sites to be seen whilst on your honeymoon.

Whether it’s staying in one of the many boutique hotels and sunning with your better half in one of the rooftop pools. Or, simply taking a stroll around Cartagena’s walled city, which is an unmissable UNESCO World Heritage site that has a romantic feel to it, despite its colonial past. No matter which hotel you stay in, or, which of the many beaches near Cartagena you visit. While ever inside the walled city romance lingers in the air.

Panama

Panama has it all, paradisiac beaches, breathtaking tropical forests, and vibrant capital. It is the ideal place for adventurous couples that like to explore new places while embracing the relaxing Caribbean vibe. Moreover, Panama has one of the most beautiful places on earth, the islands of San Blas.

San Blas is a cluster of paradisiac islands located in the Caribbean Sea. The islands have white sand, coconut trees, and crystal blue water.

One of the most romantic experiences to have is staying in one of the huts of the islands. These have only the basic, with no phone connections and electricity only at night, but with an unforgettable view. The only thing you will have to do is enjoy life, swim, snorkel, and relax.

Besides San Blas, you can enjoy another fascinating archipelago, Bocas del Toro, also in the Caribbean sea, less paradisiac, but still incredibly beautiful. These islands are known for their good surfing spots and excellent beaches. You will have plenty to do.

When you get tired of the beach you can continue your trip to Panama exploring the wilderness of tropical forest in Boquete, a small mountain town by the Baru Volcano. From here there are several hikes to the cloud forest in the National Parque of Volcano Baru. Panama is definitely a good destination to go on your honeymoon.

Claudia Bastos – Traveldrafts.com

Belize

Belize me when I tell you that this charming little island is out of this world. For honeymoon couples looking for a fleeting first adventure, their massive Barrier Reef lines the seashore and is great for rich snorkeling or scuba adventure. Moving west into the dense jungle, there are many rivers for kayaking or rafting, as well as some ancient Mayan temple ruins that feature self or guided tours.

Witness all of their wonderful wildlife by taking a trip to the zoo or by spending the night in a jungle lodge to appreciate animals like jaguars, macaws, and strange snake-mimicking caterpillars.

Caye Caulker

The motto of the island of Caye Caulker is “Go Slow”, what better place to spend a honeymoon than lounging on your private deck, watching the Caribean Sea drift by while abiding by this motto. There are no cars on this Caribbean island which is located a mile inside the Belize Barrier Reef – the second largest in the world.

There are myriads of hammocks here and cabanas on the beach. You can step straight off the beach into warm water, or ride rental bikes from one end of the 7-mile long island to the other.  Find a little magic in the seahorse sanctuary at the Iguana Reef Hotel – clutching a mandatory sundowner cocktail of course.

The food is superb here too, the cheapest lobsters when in season, ceviche, fresh fish and the famous fry jacks for breakfast each morning.

When you feel like a little company there’s a walk-in the movie theatre here. The stunning blue hole is also close by, where it’s possible to dive and snorkel in the most famous of spots. Enjoy a little piece of luxury in Belize!
